TOGETHER FOR WATER A citizen action in favour of disadvantaged children in COSTA RICA · Sep 19, 12:01 AM

"Everything comes from Water"
This quote from the mathematician Thalès summarizes the importance of water.
His theories about water are less known than his mathematic theorems. Basically,  he says that water is the principle of everything, that Earth is only condensate water, the air: rarefied water and finally everything can be dissolved in water. This philosophy of nature brings up water as the explanatory principle of the universe, from where the other elements emerge: air, fire and ground.

Dangers around water are probably the main reason, which puts our planet at risk.

Water in danger !
Pollution of rivers and seas is outrageous :
- discharge of chemicals,
- accumulation of mud coming from deforested forests choking the algae and baby fish
 - wild “degasification” of the tankers off the coasts
Humans are solely responsible of this behavior. We can change to slow down or stop this disaster !
Waste of this vital natural resource for all the species, animal or vegetable, is raising. For instance, we build ski stations and golf courses in the desert !

Why Costa Rica ?

With its geographical position and its wet tropical climate (precipitations oscillate between 1300 and 7500mm per year), Costa Rica is the 3rd country of Central America for her hydrous offer.Better known as an ecotourism paradise, Costa Rica is also a country in the process of development, with many difficulties in  management of its water resources!

Moreover, water is “source of life”; it is also vector of diseases such as the diarrhoea , or dengue, conveyed by the mosquitoes…

The role of children

They are the most vulnerable population; thus, most exposed to problems created by pollution of water. But first of all, they represent our future! Adults have a role to play to build a better future. We need to act up today !

Parents’ mission includes teaching how to preserve water, which is more important than oil, gas or else.

The schools of Santa Ana in Costa Rica

Randy Explorer works with a school whose students come from poor neighboroods.
Among students, some come from a mountainous rural district, where the road is often destroyed by heavy rain. Furthermore, “Rios” overflow, destroying houses that border them…
Children of the schools Concepcion de Alajuelita, Andres Bello Lopez and Yanuario Quesada in Costa Rica, will profit, starting on the 16th of September 2008 and throughout the school year 2008-2009, on education about “Value of water” and the way to preserve their rivers.

They will be the direct beneficiaries of the environmental education on water developed  by the Foundation RANDY  EXPLORER, and this will be extended to their whole community.

An ambitious project for the RANDY EXPLORER Foundation
The RANDY EXPLORER Foundation is a recent organisation located in Andorra. RANDY EXPLORER is the founder of the environmental education project  : “TOGETHER FOR WATER
It is about awareness on the importance of water, supporting the active participation of children and teachers for a change in attitude towards respect to this essential and so fragile natural resource.
Thanks to many activities (workshops, dynamics group of play, exits, reforestation…) and two half-days of teaching per month during one year, 390 children from 7 to 11 years of 3 schools of suburbs of San Jose (Costa Rica), will discover the problems related to water and will extend their knowledge to their community.
« Leaders » will be chosen to expand their newly acquired knowledge into the community.

What about the means ?

The Foundation Randy Explorer contracted, in Costa Rica, the services from specialized technicians in the environmental topics.

It is with SURA that the Foundation entrusted, last year, the educational exits in the nature of more than 560 children of disadvantaged schools, it was a success!

65% of the project is financed by the exterior ministry of the Andorran government.
The other 35% are given by generous donors.
We thank the Andorran government and the individuals. We couldn’t exist without them.

UNO issued the years 2005-2015, “international decade of actions: “water, source of life”

We tried to develop our action in order to reproduce it as cheaply as possible. We would like other under developed countries to build similar programs. A handbook will be publish next year to help out setting up similar programs.
All the participants of this project are absolutely enthusiastic with the idea of what it can bring to children, their parents and their community – today and tomorrow.
WITHOUT WATER, THERE IS NO LIFE: The access to drinking water is a huge stake for our century.

We will keep you informed every month about the actions carried out in favour of children, but also about the programs regarding their community. We value the extension of the program to the community because respect towards nature is for everyone!

We all share the same ideal for our children: Their freedom to grow in good conditions, in a clean and healthy world.
