Rio Celeste, where sky and land both join.

The National Park Volcano Tenorio is formed by a myriad of natural resources of incomparable beauty. One of the most attractive features is the Celestial Rio located in its skirts, where its impressive color makes think that God joined the sky with the land.
Almost nobody knows it in spite of its beauty.
The color almost milky turquoise gave name to this river.
This effect is provoked by the gases of the bottom of the river and the rainfall of calcium carbonated taken by a creek who falls into the principal river.
From this point the river, with its almost surreal color flows to the forest without losing its coloration.

This is the real rainy forest, with a rainfall of more than 4.000 millimeters a year. The rainy season goes from May to January and the average temperature is 24 centigrade degrees.

The tourism is not very developed but it worths visiting it.
The hillsides of the Volcano Tenorio are covered by a dense forest and are the home of a great number of mammals and birds, some of them are: the Tapir, Wild boar, the Howler monkey, the Monkey Cariblanco, the Monkey Squirrel, wild cats as the Manigordo, the Ocelot and the Puma, the Bird Bell and different falcons.

In addition, the flora is diverse: different kinds of palms, heliconias, ferns, bromelias and orchids, besides trees as oaks getting up as mute witnesses of the divine creation.
