From waste to art

In Concepcion we use our time to finished some things we
made previously for the festival: butterflies, masks, turtles, etc. We also
made a gift for mother’s day, a paper basket.

In El Carmen we also made a gift for mother´s day. Then
we made a mobile with the costarican flag colors due to the Independence Day
celebration coming soon.

Kids and teachers said goodbye to us with fruits, ice
cream and cookies.

In Andrés Bello they also made a card for mother’s day
and in their last day paint a turtle.

Ecological and vegetable garden

We made bio ferments from: papaya, banana, pineapple and
treacle. We left the fruits cutted into pieces with the teacle for a week and
cover with plastic bags to avoid flies.

After a week we took the mix out and drain it with a
piece of fabric. Once we obtained the liquid we put it inside bottles and
refrigerate them. To use them we have to mix them with water. This bio ferment
was made to use them in the school but also sell them in the festival.

Kids also gave some basic maintenance to the gardens,
water the plants, remove herbs, clean up the spaces, etc.

Waste management

Concepcion

1) We talked to the kids about how materials must go on
the recycling center. We showed them pictures about proper disposal of plastic
bottles, also about Citarum River the most contaminated river in the world. We
discuss about this issue.

2) Signs: we painted signs with positive messages about
environment

Escuela Andrés Bello

1) We did the same activity in el Carmen school.

2) Campaign: we went out of the class to do our
sensibilization campaign for the school. Kids were enthusiastic about it.
